In addition to demhur`s book and book, there is also an eBook, a four-colour picture book, a card game and an online course. The four agreements are provided in an easily understandable manner and apply to everyday life. The concept of living in a dream is also easy to assimilate. The only agony I had was with the last 11 minutes, where he gives a prayer “Christan” that sounds in total contradiction with the wisdom of Toltec given in the rest of the book. This end made me doubt the credibility of the authors. I recommend to listen until prayer, then stop and you will be satisfied with the wisdom of the Toltec tradition. I have been on the path to spiritual awakening for 25 years, and I wish I had experienced this book at the beginning of my journey! Now it`s a perfect summary of what I`ve discovered myself over the years, wrapped in a beautiful mystical story, the toltec way of looking at it. I cannot recommend this book enough to all those who are looking for a way to live a happy life, to be freed from the fog of beliefs and other effects of our domestication. The four chords are simple, but difficult enough to fit every moment of our lives, hence the importance of the fourth.
I`m going to keep this book at the head of my favorite books for a long time and I`m definitely going to reread it to make it even more wise. The four agreements© were published in 1997 and have sold about 9 million times. He has been on the New York Times bestseller list for nearly a decade. Everything we do is based on agreements we have made – agreements with ourselves, with other people, with God, with life. But the most important agreements are those we make with ourselves. The fourth agreement allows readers to have a better understanding of the progress made in achieving their goals in life. This agreement involves the integration of the first three agreements into daily life and the exploitation of its own potential. It is a matter of doing the best that can be managed individually, which varies from the different situations and circumstances that the individual may encounter. Ruiz believes that if you judge yourself and do your best at all times, you will be able to avoid remorse. By integrating the first three chords and doing the best in all facets of life, the individual will be able to lead a life without grief or self-awareness. Don Miguel Ruiz`s guide to personal freedom is an inspiring and motivating reading in itself.
But the voice of actor Peter Coyote`s Dulcet takes These ancient Toltec teachings to another level and transforms them into a fascinating four-part guided meditation. The Four Agreements establishes philosophical concepts in concrete and real situations and explores the benefits of being impeccable with your word, taking nothing personally, not making assumptions and always doing your best. The clear and captivating delivery of Coyotes allows us to really sit with these principles… And then they turn into direct, immediate measures. The concept is simple, the four chords are understandable, the results are undeniable… However, the disciplined practice of consciousness and action is a monumental challenge… not because it is complicated, but monumental to achieve, because it requires a complete description of your deepest thoughts and actions. The constant presence of the mind and continuous concentration will begin to unravel the lifespan of the unhealthy conditioning with which we all felt comfortable. This book is a bit “woo woo”, not bashing at all, but I could see how hard parts of it are to get through for someone who is not in trouble.
